Join us at the Launceston Planetarium on Saturday, 27 July 2024, from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM for the screening of "Capturing the Cosmos."
Narrated by Academy Award-winning actor Geoffrey Rush, "Capturing the Cosmos" explores the cutting-edge astronomy being conducted under the vast skies of the Australian outback. Produced in collaboration with the ARC Centre of Excellence for All-Sky Astrophysics (CAASTRO), this show delves into the groundbreaking research by CAASTRO astronomers using innovative telescopes like SkyMapper and the Murchison Widefield Array.
SkyMapper, led by Nobel Laureate Professor Brian Schmidt, focuses on unraveling the mysteries of Dark Energy, while the Murchison Widefield Array investigates the earliest moments of the Universe's history when the first stars and galaxies formed.
Discover new insights about our cosmos and the latest astronomical discoveries in this immersive Planetarium experience. Each show is followed by a live tour of the current night sky, enhancing your understanding of the celestial wonders above us.
