Australia Day, let's show our kids what being Australian is all about and come together as a community. This year in Tasmania there will be a program of events built on the values which define us as Australians: diversity, inclusion and respect.
We've wrapped up the best of the family-friendly Australia Day events come
Sunday 26 January 2020. (And yes, in case you were wondering, you still get the public holiday - on Monday 27 January this year.)
Australia Day Breakfast on the Bellerive Boardwalk
Returning to Bellerive Boardwalk is the Australia Day Breakfast, including a morning of free and family friendly entertainment, from Thylasing and the Clarence City Band, along with children activities. Go and enjoy a delicious breakfast, from Get Curry India, Moto Vecchia, Berry Ice Cream Ban, and the Lions Club of Clarence. Head out with your family and friends and have a hassle free day out with exceptional entertainment!

Australia Day on Kingston Beach
Throughout Australian lifestyle and all facets that define our culture, a day on the beach is the perfect celebration for Australia Day. On Kingston Beach, there will be a variety of free sporting activities, live music, beachside breakfast, swimming, sailing, a giant inflatable slide, sandcastle competitions and more. This day also involves a selection of non-profit organisations, including sports clubs, community groups and more who will set up their services on the beach, providing families a chance to enjoy local happenings.

Australia Day Weekend at Clover Hill
The Australia Day weekend provides the perfect opportunity to
enjoy wine and exquisite food at the award winning Clover Hill cellar door. Experience sensational views across the vines, whilst a DJ provides fantastic tunes.
Special Australia Day wine offers will also be available across the weekend, and there will also be club member discounts applicable to all wine, food and merchandise purchased courtesy of the Club Prestige.

Henley-On-Mersey Australia Day Festival
This Australia Day celebrate Australia’s proud heritage and pioneering spirit, as well as the
unique quirkiness at Henley-On-Mersey. This festivals provides the opportunity for you to try your hand at archery, whip cracking, egg throwing, hurdy-gurdy and more. Though don’t let the fun and games distract from the main feature, annual ferret races. These races prove to be crowd pleasers and after there is delightful ferret fashion parade and ferret ‘chocolate wheel’, which allows visitors to win fantastic prizes.

Australia Day Aussie Breakfast
Hosted by the Waratah-Wynyard Council, this breakfast features damper, billy tea, and egg bacon rolls. This family friendly event is placed in the heart of Tasmania’s north west, which includes scenery of coastal towns and villages.

Sisters Beach Australia Day Fun
Hosted by the Sisters Beach Community Association, this year’s Australia Day is being celebrated by the community by the Creek, featuring music, a BBQ, stalls, a variety of children’s activities, and a colour run.

122nd annual Mount Lyell Strahan Picnic – Australia Day Picnic West Strahan
The 122nd Annual Mount Lyell Strahan Picnic features fantastic activities, fit for the whole family, including wheelbarrow races, egg and spoon races, hammer the nail, and many more. While parents relax and embrace the scenery, the children will be entertained by a giant slide and a teacup ride.

Derwent Valley Australia Day Fun Run and Walk 2020
The celebrations in Derwent Valley for Australia Day will be held at New Norfolk’s gorgeous Esplanade, with a variety of free family activities throughout the day. A few events include the annual Australia Day Fun Run and Walk with Spot Prizes and Medallions awarded, followed by a much anticipated Colour Run. Following the fun, will be an official proceeding, which includes the giving of Australia Day Awards to those within the community. Don’t miss out on this wonderful day of fun!
